Zambian Rugby Comes to London Leisure College

Wednesday 26th September

The LLC Rugby Team had the opportunity to share some of their skills with international players as they hosted an Under 16 team from Zambia. The Zambian side were in the country to play an international tournament organised by the Rugby Tag Development Trust – a charity that introduces primary school children in developing countries to the sport with the support of volunteers.

Head Coach Steve Pope had invited the team to train at the Blackheath Rugby Ground with LLC and boys from local school Hurstmere to prepare for the tournament. The College has a great relationship with the Rugby Tag Trust and have sent boys for the last two years abroad to help develop rugby abroad. It was a great opportunity for some of the LLC team who had visited Zambia last year to see a few familiar faces and rebuild friendships.

London Leisure College 15 – 0 Richmond College

London Leisure College took on Richmond College in their first competitive game of the Rugby season. The boys competed well against a very physical side, dominating the first half by scoring two well worked tries, up hill and against the wind. The physicality of the game threatened to boil over at some stages as LLC frustrated Richmond with some strong defensive play. A second half penalty sealed a good win against another academy side.
