The Academy Model

The first to offer this innovative training model is Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL), who currently employ approximately 3,000 staff at over 55 leisure centres across London. 

 

Every contracted member of staff in GLL is aligned to, and attends one of the GLL Academies:

 

  • Leadership Academy
  • Management Academy
  • Business Support Academy
  • Supervisors Academy
  • Wellness Academy
  • Recreation Assistants Academy

The aim of each academy is to:

 

  • Recruit - Assisting in developing vocational training routes for new staff, and talent acquisition of existing industry staff wishing to develop their career.
  • Induct-Orientate-Train - Provide a comprehensive programme of induction, orientation and training for new staff as well as regular industry and company core training.
  • Develop - Provide industry relevant Continual Proffesional Development (CPD) opportunity for all staff. Developing individual career paths and creating opportunities to gain promotion through the academy structure.
  • Assess - Implement regular Continual Performance Assessments (CPA) for all staff, providing quantitative, qualitative, and comparable management data.
  • Support - Provide a linked, direct HR support function for each Academy and every member of staff aligned to it.
  • Deploy - Utilising results and management information from the Academies to deploy staff across the organisation for maximum operational benefit and personal development.
  • Quality - Provide effective quality systems, ensuring access to accurate management information that supports both the company and individuals' continued development.
