CYQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Exercise to Music)

Who is this course for?

This course is intended for those who wish to teach aerobics and body conditioning classes to music. Whether you are new to the fitness industry, or need a recognised qualification to teach a group exercise class that is fun, invigorating and exciting to participants, then this is the course for you.

Are there any pre-requisites?

Candidates should be at least 18 years old and should have some awareness of group exercise classes.

What will i learn?

You will learn a variety of specific teaching and instructing skills on this course. You will become confident in leading a group exercise session and will have the skills to modify and adapt your planned sessions to suit both individuals and the group as a whole.

 

The course has theoretical and practical units covering the following areas:

• Anatomy & Physiology
• The components and principles of fitness
• Relevant skills and knowledge needed to design and teach exercise to music in a variety of styles
• Methods of delivery
• Health & Safety
• Customer Care

Specifically, candidates will learn how to:

• Identify the major bones, muscles and muscle actions of the body
• Explain the workings of the body's cardiovascular and energy systems
• Identify the principle components of fitness
• Relate the Health & Safety at Work Act to the studio environment
• Identify good customer care and strategies for the adoption and maintenance of physical activity
• Plan, teach and evaluate an exercise to music session in a variety of styles
• Demonstrate good personal technique and form when teaching a session

How is the course structured?

London Leisure College offers a variety of delivery options for this course:

 

5 day intensive - as soon as you enrol onto the course you will receive our distance learning pre-course reading manual. You will need to read and understand this before coming onto the 5 training days. Once your training is complete you will be ready for your assessment (1 day).

 

Part time - If an intensive course does not suit you, we offer the same qualifications 2 evenings a week for 15 weeks

 

Online - Our NEW online course allows you the ultimate flexibility. Study online when and wherever you want and take as long as you want to complete the qualification. As soon as you enrol you will be given a log-in to gain access to the online course and then work your way through the sections after viewing 3-dimensional graphics, video clips and reading small sections of text. After you have completed all of the units online, you can book in for your training and assessment dates (requires attendance to 2 training and 1 assessment dates).
