BTEC Introductory Diploma in Sport
Who is this course for?
The BTEC Introductory Diploma is a Level 1 course for those wishing to continue their education that have an interest or aptitude in sport and leisure. The course will provide an introduction to sport and leisure and is a first step towards gaining qualifications relevant to working in the sport, leisure or coaching industries. Successful completion of the course will allow candidates to progress to study on Level 2 courses such as the BTEC First Diploma in Sport or the City & Guilds Diploma in Sport & Leisure.
are there any pre-requisites?
Candidates will be expected to display a good level of literacy and numeracy. They will also need to be able to supply a reference from their most recent place of education or employment.
What will i learn?
The course is divided into eight units of study, these are:
- Starting Work in Sport and Leisure
- Working in Sport and Leisure
- The Healthy Body
- Personal Effectiveness
- Social Responsibility at Work
- Issues in Sport and Leisure
- Taking Part in Sport
- Introducing Customer Service
In addition students are provided with the opportunity to obtain a HSE First-Aid at Work Certificate, the UK Sports Leaders Award in Community Sports Leadership and a National Key Skills Award.
how is the course structured?
The course is delivered over 36 weeks
When is the next course?
10 September 2007, at the college’s Charlton Athletic FC Campus (until around December 2007) and the college’s Eltham Centre (from around January 2008).
