BTEC First Diploma in Sport

Who is the course for?

This course is suitable for learners wishing to pursue a career in the Sport and Leisure Industry as a Coach, Trainer, Instructor or Teacher. It introduces the practicalities of coaching, assessing fitness and understanding the elements of sport and exercise performance. 

Are there any pre-requisites?

Candidates need four GCSE passes at grade D or above, which should include Maths, English & Science.  

What will i learn?

The units covered in the course are:

  • The Body in Sport
  • Health, Safety and Injury in Sport
  • Practical Sport
  • Psychology for Sports Performance 
  • Nutrition for Sports Performance 
  • Fitness for Sports Performance 
Students will also take a National Key Skills award and have the option to take relevant Sport and Leisure Industry qualification (e.g. Sports Leaders UK Level 1 in Community Sports Leadership) 

How is the course structured?

The qualification is delivered over 36 weeks

When is the next course?

10 September at  the College's Charlton Athletic FC Campus (until around December 2007) and th College's Eltham Centre (from around January 2008)
