Access to Sport, Leisure & Teaching Sport

Who is this course for?

This course is designed to provide mature learners, without the relevant skills or qualifications, with an entry route to higher education or employment in the Sport, Leisure & Recreation Industry.

 

The OCN Access to Sport, Leisure & Teaching Sport is designed with 2 specific outcomes in mind:

  • To equip learners with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required for success in current or future employment in the Sport, Leisure & Recreation Industry.
  • To equip students for entry to a Higher National Diploma or undergraduate degree programme in Physical Education, Sport, Recreation or Leisure disciplines.

What will i learn?

There are 9 modules, each with a particular topic area as a focus and include a variety of units:

  • IT and Study Skills
  • Communications for the Sport & Leisure Industry
  • Physiological Science
  • Enhancing Performance
  • Refining Performance
  • Generic Science
  • Teaching, Coaching & Instruction
  • Numeracy for the Sport & Leisure Industry
  • Tutorials

Each unit has a 'credit value' and it is the number of credits gained which decides whether you qualify for the full Access qualification. 

When is the next course?

10th September, at the College's Charlton Athletic FC campus (until around December 2007) and the College's Eltham Centre (from around January 2008)
